We understand that many of you are not familiar with Vietnamese cuisine, and others are but just haven’t been to visit us. Then there are folks that browse random areas of websites to read up on random things. Well, regardless of why you’re here… here are some of the most asked questions here at KALM.
Do you take reservations?
Unfortunately due to our tiny space and foot traffic, we do not take reservations.
What are some good tips for first-time visitors?
KALM is run like a traditional Vietnamese restaurant. When you come in, you seat yourself. We’ll bring you your menu and an iced water. We’ll take your order, bring you your food, and once you’re done just head on up to the counter to pay. Also, feel free to ask all the questions you may have about our menu, we’re very eager to help.
Do you have any gluten-free options?
95% of our menu are gluten-free. With that being said, please inquire through phone or in person and we’ll gladly explain which 5% of our food items you’d have to avoid.
Do you have lo-mein or pad thai?
We love food from all over the world, especially Southern food! But we are a Vietnamese restaurant, and we stick with what we do best and that is to make 100% Vietnamese dishes.
Can you accommodate large parties?
Due to space constrains and limited seating, we are not the best place to bring your family and all their cousins and friends and step kids and ex-wives. With that being said, we have easily accommodated parties of 12+. It’s all about timing. Lunch and dinner rushes the chances are very unlikely. Feel free to call ahead to get an idea of our situation.
Do you give any types of discounts?
We give out discounts to folks in uniform (law enforcement, firefighters, nurses, etc). Also senior citizens, veterans, and students. You’d just have to ask for it because we don’t want to assume anybody is older or younger than they are and get smacked. The BEST way to get discounts would be to sign-up for our loyalty rewards program, lots of awesome perks there! Click –>HERE<– for more info.
I called during business hours and nobody picked up…
If it’s not stated on our Facebook page that we are closed, and it’s not a holiday, then yes indeed we’re open. Just many times when we are very busy and backed up, we do not answer our phone. The reason is because we would like to take care of our current orders as best as we can.
Are you all a franchise?
No, we are a locally owned and operated business of only one location. We don’t have the money nor the time to open more. If you have time and money and would like to see other KALM locations come to fruition, feel free to get in touch with us!
Are dogs allowed in your establishment?
We love dogs, but due to health code regulations and laws, pets are not allowed in our establishment but service animals ARE allowed. If you are bringing a service animal in with you please let us know ASAP so we’re all on the same page and to make it as comfortable as possible for our other patrons.
Do you serve beer or liquor?
Currently we do not. Maybe some time this year we will be offering a small selection of Vietnamese beers only.. but in the meantime, we are BYOB and we encourage you to bring in your favorite beverage to enjoy with your meal. For those bringing in wine, we do have bottle openers and can provide glasses (plastic, all our fancy wine glasses have been broken). There are no cork fee here.
Do you have take-out menus?
We USED to, but not anymore because we have updated our menus quite a few times and folks are still trying to order items that we haven’t had in ages. To those that still have our old take-out menus, please throw them out. Please. Our our MENU link here, we’ve conveniently made them images so you can save them to your computer or mobile device. Feel free to print those out and voila! You’ve got an unofficial take-out menu from KALM.
Do you have anything for vegetarians?
YES!!!! WE DO!!! Roughly 25-30% of our awesome visitors are vegetarians/vegan. The vegetarian/vegan on our menu are 100% vegan. No egg, no dairy, no playing around. These items are not prepared or cooked in the same pot, pan, oil of our regular menu items.
